About a ten minute drive from the town of Urubamba, in the direction of Machu Picchu, is the small town of Yanahuara, right in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas (El Valle Sagrado de los Incas). Here I have a beautiful piece of land that is approx 2.25 acres. There is a gentle slope to the top part of the land, which leads to a large flat section. Access is available from the top and bottom.

Many people like staying in the Sacred Valley because the altitude is less than in Cuzco and it doesn't affect them so much (around 9,000ft vs 11,000ft (3300m vs 2700m). The train station that takes you to Machu Picchu is a short drive away, and ever since Machu Picchu was named as a Wonder of the World, the entire area has received that much more attention.

Most people who know the town of Urubamba know that it is just about full, as is Cuzco. Whilst quiet at the moment, Yanahuara has already seen interest from a prestige hotel group, the Casa Andina, that recently built a beautiful hotel about a five minute walk from my property. Otherwise the area is basically rural.

The good thing about the hotel opening was that it shows that all utilities are available. Another thing I liked were the room rates, showing what can be achieved with the right construction and ambiance.

The land itself has a very small caretaker's hut on it, and there is a small stream of community water that divides the upper and lower sections.

One of the main assets of this property is that legally, it has clean papers. Everything has been properly certified and registered with the correct authorities. This is a huge bonus as there are many pieces of land for sale which do not have clean title and which can cause many problems down the road.

There are no problems for Americans/Europeans to buy land in Peru. When I last checked, investment visas were available with an investment of US$25,000.

The price of the land is US$140,000.

Only the small house closest to the camera is on the land, the house behind is the neighbor's.
